Lorraine first embraced flexible working when her children were small – it was the only way to juggle career and family life without dropping too many balls! While they’re older now and more independent, that need for balance hasn’t gone away. Life is still full – work, home, teenagers, friends, and hopefully the odd moment for herself – and flexible working helps her keep all the plates spinning.
She finds she works better with autonomy. Being able to structure her day around when she’s most focused (and when the house is quiet!) means she’s more productive, more present for her family, and – very importantly – there’s food in the fridge and a vaguely tidy house.
Lorraine believes that flexibility doesn’t mean working less – it means working smarter. Clear expectations, mutual trust and good communication are key. She’s a strong advocate for flexible working being a win-win for everyone: happier people, better output, and a much more sustainable way to work.
